Hot Chocolate

I stumbled across the perfect hot chocolate recipe the other day in this cookbook. Besides being smooth and dreamy in your mouth, this recipe is nice because it can easily be doubled. Or tripled. Or quadrupled, if your heart so desires. Which it might! Especially if you have company.

“The Best Hot Chocolate”
Yield: 2 servings
  • 2 Tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 3 Tbsp sugar
  • ½ cup water
  • 1 ¾ cups milk
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract
  1. In a small saucepan, whisk together the cocoa and sugar just enough to mix it slightly. Add the water and bring to a boil, whisking.
  2. Reduce the heat to medium, then whisk in the milk. Heat almost to the boiling point, stirring continuously.
  3. Remove from the heat, then quickly stir in the vanilla. Divide between 2 mugs, topping the hot cocoa with whipped cream and a dusting of cocoa powder if you like.
